Government Certification Box Sealing Tape

351 is a 3.43 mil, BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) film with hot melt rubber resin adhesive. It is used as a packaging tape for box sealing, splicing, recouperage and other demanding government packaging applications. Application is most easily accomplished at room temperature. Once applied, 351 performs well throughout the normal temperature ranges typically encountered by packaged products in shipping and storage environments.

It features very high initial adhesion and good shear holding power to a wide variety of materials including many plastics. 444 tape is not recommended for direct exposure to sunlight or other sources of ultra violet light.

Woven Glass Cloth

467 is a 6 mil, economical, closely woven glass fabric and high temperature silicone adhesive. The glass fabric has excellent abrasion resistance and high strength. This tape conforms to MIL-I-191166C. This tape can be used in electrical applications including splicing and positioning in coils and support rings, reinforcing slot insulation and armature coil insulation. It can be used in high temperature applications such as transformers, solenoids and appliances.

Double Ply Silicone Rubber / Glass Cloth

Thermo-Bond Film

A 4.0 mil. thermo-bond film featuring ethylene vinyl acetate adhesive used for bonding applications. 557 tape is a flexible, light colored, thermoplastic adhesive bonding film which exhibits good adhesion to a variety of substrates, especially many plastics. Thin films and flexible substrates can be bonded using a heated roll laminator where heat and pressure can be varied to suit the application. Larger, thicker substrates can be bonded using a heated static press or, in some cases, an autoclave. High Temperature Transfer Tape

A 2.3 mil. 100 acrylic adhesive transfer tape designed for temperature exposure to 450°F for short periods of time and/ or solvent resistance. 941 tape has exceptional shear values, even at elevated temperatures. It also offers low “outgassing” properties, which is an important consideration for the aerospace, automotive and electronic industries. Nameplates and decrotive trim holds securely after exposure to numerous chemicals including gasoline, oil, Freonâ„¢TF, sodium chloride solution, mild acids and alkalis. Bond strength can also be improved with firm application pressure and moderate heat (for metal surfaces only), from 100°F to 130°F, causing the adhesive to develop intimate contact with the bonding surface. A 125.0 mil. urethane foam tape featuring A-25 acrylic adhesive on a silicone treated liner used for coding, sealing and identification applications. 4108 is a natural white, firm, high density open cell foam tape with pressure sensitive adhesive on one side. The acrylic adhesive offers high initial quick stick to many types of surfaces, along with excellent shear strength and high temperature performance. The adhesive is protected by the thick, silicone liner. Urethane foam, series 4100, are firm, rigid open-cell tapes that offer excellent cushioning characteristics while allowing air or gas to pass through the open cells. Skip slitting is also used for roll stability on these narrow sizes. Urethane tapes may turn yellow when exposed to light, however, the physical performance is not effected. 4108 tape adheres to a variety of substrates, including latex painted wood, lacquered wood, enameled steel, glass, aluminum, stainless steel, acrylic, ABS and PVC (non-plasticized). The tape adhesion is typically satisfactory within 20 minutes and continues to build with additional time. The solvent/fuel resistant test consists of visual observations of tape bonded to steel panels and immersed totally in solvent/ fuel for 24 hours.

This product also consists of two film liners for optimum adhesive smoothness and differential release for ease of processing and protection from contamination. 9483 tape is free of birefringence with no film carrier and is wound on plastic cores and wrapped in plastic to eliminate paper fiber contamination. Tape is inspected to reduce the occurrence of bubbles, dirt, gels and other optical distortions. Adhesive withstands environmental, (temperature), tests under conditions specified, (see features), without any deterioration in visible appearance, physical integrity or optical performance. In addition, as a result of 3M’s innovative, proprietary process, adhesive 200MP also offers the following excellent performance characteristics. Clarity – virtually free of vapor inclusions that are commonly found in adhesives produced by the traditional solvent coating technique. Excellent high temperature performance as well as excellent shear strength (minimizes edge lifting and slippage of parts). Excellent resistance to harsh environments; this adhesive can withstand splashes of organic solvents, weak acids and bases and salt water, cleaning solutions, germicidals, disinfectants, oils, etc. In addition, it performs well after exposure to humidity and hot/ cold cycles. Provides some initial repositionability when bonding to plastic parts (not metal). This allows graphic parts to be lifted and repositioned if initial alignment is incorrect. The #300MP hi-strength adhesive offers excellent adhesion to many plastics and good shear strength. The film carrier adds dimensional stability to foams and other substrates and provides easier handling tape, including slitting and die cutting. 9690 tape has a moisture resistant polycoated kraft liner that can withstand high humidity conditions with minimal cockling or wrinkling and improves processing of parts and ease of liner removal. Initial tape application below 50°F is not recommended for most pressure-sensitive adhesives because the adhesive becomes too firm to adhere readily. However, once properly applied, low temperature holding is generally satisfactory. Bond strength is dependent upon the amount of adhesive-to-surface contact developed. Firm application pressure helps develop better adhesive contact and thus improves bond strength.

Liner improves lay-flat processing of plastic graphic overlays and foam lubricated parts along with die cutting of end tabs and multiple parts on a common carrier.

Electrically Conductive Tape

A 2.0 mil. conductive tape featuring filled acryilc adhesive on a silicone-treated liner used for interconnection of flexible circuits with other flexible circuit applications. This pressure-sensitive adhesive is filled with conductive particles which allow interconnection between substrates through the adhesive thickness (“Z-axis”) but spaced far enough apart for the product to be electrically insulating in the plane of the adhesive. The tack properties and lack of any thermal curing make this tape easy to use in assembly operations. Stable electrical performance in any flexible circuit interconnection application may require mechanical reinforcement (clamping). 9703 tape electrically connects and mechanically bonds rigid printed circuit boards (PCB), LCD screens and EMI/ RFI shields and gaskets to metal frames and enclosures. Tape can be applied as die-cut parts or in roll form, and has low contact resistance and tape construction resulting in good EMI performance. 9703 tape also offers good adhesion to common EMI/ RFI substrates, such as aluminum, stainless steel and smooth gasket materials and PCB substrates, such as copper, gold, FR-4 epoxy, Kaptonâ„¢ polyimide and polyester films. XYZ-Axis Electrically Conductive Tape

A 3.0 mil. isotropically conductive tape that conducts through the thickness and in the plane of the adhesive ideal for EMI/ RFI shield and EMI/ RFI gasket attachment to metal surfaces. 9713 tape is an innovative combination of established adhesive technology with state-of-the-art conductive technology. It also has all the qualities required for reliable and effective attachment of EMI/ RFI shields and gaskets to electronic devices. To apply, wiping action creates good electrical contact. A 3.74 mil. polyester film backing with a silicone coating and an arcylic coating on opposite sides used for bonding silicone rubber to higher surface energy materials.
