A 7.5 mil. pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive tape, coated on a dead soft aluminum foil backing used for application to panels and steel support member for vibration damping purposes. The combination of viscoelastic polymer (type 830 adhesive) and an aluminum foil backing (a constrained layer damper, or CLD) has proved to be a unique construction with exceptional ability to resonant vibrations in the temperature range of -76°F to 68°F at 100 Hz, plus, higher temperatures at higher frequencies. See 3M data sheet for Dynamic Mechanical Properties of ISD 830 Viscoelastic Adhesive chart.
